Are you a current EQR Tenant?
HELLO!
We are current tenants of Equity Residential (EQR), one of the nation’s largest corporate landlords. We are organizing to improve our living conditions and to build the tenant power we need to transform housing from an investment vehicle for the wealthy to what it should be: home for families, for communities, for everyone.
WHAT IS A
TENANTS’
ASSOCIATION?
A tenants association (TA) is a group of tenants living in the same building or development who choose to join forces in order to advocate for themselves, particularly when dealing with their landlord or management.
How are EQR TAs
Organized?
The best organizing is done building by building, neighbor by neighbor. But what do you do when a Real Estate Investment Trust (like EQR) has over 80,000 units!? This is the question we’re trying to answer. Help us strategize! We are starting in Los Angeles with two EQR properties housing over 700 tenants. Our first campaign is to combat EQR’s use of junk fees to raise rent. (see more) We’re organizing to ban Ratio Utility Billing Systems (RUBS)— a corporate landlord scam designed to force tenants to pay for building-wide utility bills we can't control. But we’re fighting back!
